Prayer Book services
The 1662 Book of Common Prayer is still used at many of our services, though we try to use it in an imaginative way. We hope that you will find that our services combine calm, dignified worship with thoughtful preaching, good music, and the friendly atmosphere of a small church.

  • Sundays: 8am Prayer Book Holy Communion
  • Sundays: 11am Prayer Book Mattins. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday in the month.
  • Friday: 10:30am Prayer Book Holy Communion
  • Details of services and preachers at the 11am service

    Meditative services
These services bring together meditation and the sacrament of Holy Communion. They combine silence, incense, and a rich mixture of traditional and modern words and music, including chants from Taize and words and songs from Iona. We hope that people will find the space here to encounter the Spirit of God.

  • Sundays: 5pm Meditative Eucharist
    Details of services and preachers
  • We have recently produced forty attractive long-sleeved, black t-shirts advertising the 5pm Meditative Eucharist on Sundays. The front of the t-shirt has an image of the chalice used during the service with a single candle burning alongside. The words ‘The Light Shines in the Darkness…’ are printed above. The reverse of the t-shirt simply has the words ‘…but the Darkness has not overcome it…………The Meditative Evening Eucharist, Every Sunday, St. Edward’s, King and Martyr Church, Cambridge.’ The t-shirts cost just £10 and are available in medium, large and extra large sizes. If you wish to purchase one please contact Marcus Ramshaw on marcus@st-edwards-cam.org.uk. Cheques for the t-shirts should be made payable to ‘St. Edward’s, King and Martyr Church.’
    The Goth Eucharist
This is an exciting new fortnightly service which seeks to find new ways of making the life of the Church meaningful to people from alternative, and particularly Goth communities. It takes place every alternate Tuesday at 8.30pm in the Clare Chapel of St. Edward’s Church and anyone is welcome to attend. The service has been featured on the new Fresh Expressions Church of England website.
